How to overcome depression


What is depression ?
Most people feel sad or depressed at times. It’s a normal reaction to loss or life’s struggles. Everyone experiences sadness and grief during their lives, it is a normal part of human emotion. Depression can happen suddenly as a result of physical illness, experiences dating back to childhood, unemployment, bereavement, family problems or other life-changing events.

Symptoms of depression :
When someone is depressed, it can seem to be a considerable effort to even get out of bed in the morning. They have little drive or desire to do anything. There is no motivation or even hope. They cannot see a way forward. In fact, it may feel as if they are treading water as they cannot achieve anything. Often, depressed people feel deeply sad and may spend much time crying. Sometimes, this is triggered by the smallest of things and yet, they cannot seem to stop the tears. At other times, they want to cry but can’t. It takes too much energy. Depression impacts people from all ethnic and social and economic backgrounds. It can happen gradually or can happen in an instant.
But depressions can be cured with counselling or clinical help…

Treatment for Depression:
Depression isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s not something you can just “snap out of.” Yet with the right care, people can feel better. Psychotherapy is also an effective treatment and you can take help from counsellors. Unfortunately, many people are ashamed or afraid to ask for help. Others shrug off their symptoms and end up suffering in silence. Contrary to some misconceptions, depression is neither inevitable nor is it a character flaw. People with depression often get these ideas because of the feeling of guilt caused by the illness. Depression is a health problem for which help is available. But you must ask for help. For severe depression, antidepressant medications can be helpful for reducing depression symptoms in some people..
